Focus - Thrive — ADHD Autism Specialist Platform
Healthcare / Neurodiversity / Mental Health
About This Project
Focus - Thrive is a neurodiversity-affirming healthcare platform built for an ADHD and Autism specialist practice. The site was designed from the ground up with sensory awareness at its core — because the people who need this care most are often the most overwhelmed by poorly designed digital experiences.
What it does:
- - A clean, calming homepage with an interactive executive functioning check-in tool that helps visitors self-identify areas where they need support
- - A tabbed support selector that segments content for Adults (self), Parents (of children), and Educators — each getting tailored messaging and pathways
- - A services page with transparent pricing for Adult ADHD Assessments ($650), Paediatric Autism Screenings ($850), and Executive Function Coaching ($200/session) — plus an FAQ section addressing common concerns like insurance, online availability, and diagnosis requirements
- - A strengths-based "Our Approach" page that directly contrasts the traditional deficit model against a neurodiversity-affirming strengths model — visually and in plain language
- - A multi-step booking wizard with time slot selection, designed for low cognitive load — no overwhelming forms, just guided steps
- - A sensory-friendly mode toggle available on every page, allowing visitors to adjust the experience to their sensory needs
Technical highlights:
- - PHP + MySQL backend with PDO for secure database interactions
- - Bootstrap 5 responsive framework
- - jQuery-powered interactive elements (wizard, tabs, checklist, sensory toggle)
- - Form validation on both client and server side
- - Splash screen with focus-circle animation
- - Clean SEO structure with per-page meta titles and descriptions
This project reflects a growing understanding in healthcare web design: that accessibility isn't just about screen readers and alt text — it's about cognitive load, sensory processing, and meeting people exactly where they are.
